Sony Ericsson J108i Cedar Review

The Sony Ericsson Cedar, which seems quite affordable and boasts of high speed 3G connectivity, is the answer to all other non-reasonable handsets with such features.

The Sony Ericsson Cedar handset features connectivity through 2G GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, and 3G HSDPA 2100 and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 networks, with the dimensions of around 111 x 49 x 15.5 mm and a weight of only 84 gm. This new handset is accompanied by a 2.2 inch TFT display featuring 256K colours, and a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The phone supports the widget manager 2.0 which enables easy connectivity to social networking sites from the home screen.

Apart from this, the Sony Ericsson Cedar handset also is said to be a “green” handset, due to its eco-friendly means and features like the recycled plastics, the low-power consumable charger, waterborne paint, an e-manual and compact packaging. Thus, it does seem quite a worthy match for those of you who are quite conscious of their carbon footprints.

The Sony Ericsson Cedar handset is also supported by the Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 – 48 kbps GPRS and Class 10, 236.8 kbps EDGE, and supports Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP. The basic requirements of entertainment are also met, including the 2 MP camera, video recording at the rate of 30 fps, and MP3/ eAAC+/ WAV player, YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter apps, MP4/ H.263/ H.264 player, Organizer, Voice memo and T9. The phone is also accompanied by a 3.5 mm audio jack.

In terms of memory support, the Sony Ericsson Cedar mobile phone also proves worthy, with the support for Micro SD card, a phonebook which can support 2000 entries, call records, and even the Photocall feature. For connectivity, there is a microUSB v2.0 slot. The messaging features supported by this handset include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, IM, and the accompanying browser is equipped with WAP 2.0/HTML,. The phone also supports Stereo FM radio with RDS, games, and support for Java MIDP 2.0.

The Sony Ericsson Cedar phone is to be available in stores by the third quarter of 2010, and is said to be available in colours in Black/Silver, Black/Red. The battery is a Standard battery, Li-Po 1000 mAh (BST-43), with the support for a stand by time of up to 420 hours on 2G networks, and 475 hours on 3G networks, and a talk time of up to 12 hours 30 minutes on 2G networks, and 5 hours on 3G networks. Thus, the phone seems quite an ideal match for those not looking for the touchscreen and GPS phones!!
